Three Days...
Sianz... 3 days aft TIBS was gone and SMRTBus came into operation... Have been reflectin' abt this very long... nvr forget the happiness that Tibs brought to me.... Since young, I have been shuttling between Yishun and AMK... If I remember, the 1st time I took on a Tibs bus was in 1989 for a visit to aunt's hse... forgot which 85x series taken (either 850, 851, 852 or 853)... but the 2nd Tibs bus taken was confirmed 801... These happy days hav been following me together for the past 15 years and the cheerful bright orange and yellow stripes were "sunny times". The 1983 Tibs logo uniform and the 1995 floral Tibs uniform were the most unforgettable memories that I have left with Tibs... sobzAnother good times that I could not forget was sometime in 1994 when I took the first ride of an A/C bus on svc 852. It was the time when O405s were first introduced. I still remember Bt Batok Int when the 852 almost went into instead of heading to Boon Lay Int. But too bad that the days of 852 were gone in Jurong... Perhaps it's a good thing to bus fans living in Bukit Batok and Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang. They need not spend more than 10 years until they had fallen in love with Tibs livery too deeply that they will shed tears as the areas had been SBS controlled before for more than 20 years and having a similar red and white livery is a good thing. However, that's not the case for Woodlands and Yishun bus fans and residents. Tibs had spent 20 years plus to maintain bus services in both towns and also spent quite a lot of effort. Unlike the north west areas, they had fallen deeply in love with Tibs livery and having a sudden change will mean that everything's becoming different again. When I see outside from my house now, I will still see SMRTBuses with Tibs livery... but the buses will begin to become "aliens" to me after one year perhaps as most buses by then would be the red and white livery... Just wish SMRTBuses good luck.
