NEW SERVICE 160!
Press Release:
SBS TRANSIT LAUNCHES NEW SERVICE 160 TO JOHOR BAHRU
Commuters travelling across the Causeway will soon have extra reason to smile when SBS Transit launches Service 160, a direct link service from Jurong East Interchange to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The service, which is the second direct link to Johor Bahru by SBS Transit will begin operations on 5 September 2004.
Service 160 will ply from Jurong East Interchange via Bukit Batok and Woodlands to Johor Bahru. The existing Service 170 operates from Queen Street.
On the new service, Mr Ong Boon Leong, Chief Operating Officer of SBS Transit said, "With the introduction of Service 160, commuters can enjoy the convenience of transferring between the two direct link services at the Woodlands and Johor Bahru checkpoints. This helps to reduce the time of waiting as commuters can board either service if they miss one earlier."
"To facilitate the ease of transfer, SBS Transit will offer a special discount of 38¢ in addition to the existing transfer rebate of 25¢ for commuters who transfer to either service at the checkpoints. Similarly for students, they will be entitled for an additional discount of 35¢ on top of the existing transfer rebate of 10¢. This will ensure that our commuters do not need to pay additional fare as a result of making a transfer," added Mr Ong.
The launching of Service 160 will be officiated by Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Minister of State, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports at Jurong East Interchange on 5 September 2004 at 10am.
