Le Parkour

I stood there,
On the edge.
At dawn,
Twelve stories up
And gazing across the void.

I held my breath,
Stood and gazed.
My foot moves back,
One, two, three...
Seven steps.

My muscles are warm,
everything was still.
Will I do this or will it kill?
The wind blew against my face,
I hear a gasp.

The void gets closer,
A sudden burst of energy
sends me towards that pit,
It looks deeper,
and People crowd around.

My feet leave the ground.
My heart races.
My body is lifted to heaven.
My adrenaline pumps.
Nothing is beneath me now.

A thud on my shoulder,
I'm into the roll,
when did I land
and where?
I stood and looked over my shoulder.

Everyone is there cheering.
Shock!
I did it!
I made the gap
and I want to do it again

but I've fallen to my knees,
I'm shaking.
Disbelief.
Tomorrow it will be another gap jumped,
Today it's my podium.
